Abstract

The present composites of the aluminum composite reinforced with titanium carbide are utilized in a wide range of industries, such as turbine blades, golf clubs, electronics, aviation, marine, and automotive. Lot of manufacturing techniques are available for the development of aluminum titanium carbide composites (Al6061-TiC MMC’s). Stir casting is less complicated, less expensive in the field of mass production. This chapter studied mechanical properties of titanium carbide aluminum reinforced by 10, 20, and 30%. The Al-TiC metal matrix composites are made using stir casting technique. In SEM-EDAX, the performance of the composites is analyzed for their tensile strength and hardness. The experimental results revealed that the tensile and hardness increased in aluminum (Al) matrix reinforced with TiC and the highest value of hardness and tensile are obtained at 20 wt. % of reinforcements. Increasing the wt. 20% leads to heterogeneous distribution of TiC particles in the matrix which is observed by microstructural study. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
