Abstract

Nanostructured materials have emerged as a promising avenue of research for advancing sensor and detector technology. These materials possess distinct properties that make them highly desirable for various applications. Through this paper, we will explore the potential of nanostructured materials in gas sensing, biosensing, imaging, and detection. First, we will introduce these materials and their unique characteristics. Then, we will delve into their specific uses in gas sensing, biosensing, and imaging. Additionally, we will address current challenges associated with developing nanostructured sensors and detectors and discuss potential future applications of these materials. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the exciting possibilities presented by nanostructured materials in the realm of sensors and detectors while also identifying areas for further research and development. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
