In this research, non-edible biodiesels viz. Prosopis Juliflora and Gulmohar biodiesel were mixed with equal ratio (50 Juliflora and 50 Gulmohar) as renewed biodiesel JGB. The physicochemical parameters of JGB biodiesel are analysed after it is blended with diesel at varying ratios as 20 , 30 , 40 and 50 namely, JGB20, JGB30, JGB40, and JGB50. The experimental analysis of the emission and performance characteristics of a diesel engine that employs JGB blends and the results were compared to the base diesel. At full load, the brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) for the JGB20 blend is 0.282 kg/kW.h, with a brake thermal efficiency (BTE) of 25.6 .These values are comparable to diesel, with variations of 5.2 and 7 respectively. During the experiment, the emission parameters of HC, CO, and smoke were 4.8 , 16 , and 10 respectively, to be lower for JGB20 blend when compared to diesel. Despite this, NO<inf>x</inf> emission from JGB blends are up to 9 higher than diesel, with the lowest being JGB20 at 1.84 increase than diesel. The ANN model for engine characteristics was identified as 2-10-7, assessing the decreased actual relative error and mean square error for the engine outcomes compared to the experimental findings. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
