In this paper, the authors discuss the stages of the KM process in terms of people responsible for providing various knowledge sharing activities. A typical KM process has planning, design, development and evaluation. In this work, an attempt is made to identify various roles and responsibilities involved in KM; some roles and responsibility may be relevant to specific stages of the KM process. Some roles and responsibilities may overlap, as many km tasks are interrelated and interdependent. It also list out the advantages of KM method in education systems, the benefits inclusive of the research process, the curriculum development process, student and alumni services, administrative services and strategic planning. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
