Abstract

Coumarins, an old class of compounds, are naturally occurring benzopyrone derivatives. The titled compounds of N-[2-(2-substituted aryl/heteryl)-4-oxo-1,3-thiazolidin-3-yl]-2-oxo-2H-chromene-3-Carboxamide derivatives (IV-a-m) totally thirteen compounds were prepared from benzylidine derivative of coumarin -3- carbohydrazide (II) which were derived from 3-carbethoxy coumarin derivative by Knoevenagal condensation method. All the Newly synthesized coumarin substituted with thiazolidinones was evaluated for their anti inflammatory activity. Screening of all the synthesized coumarin derivatives by Hind paw oedema method using the standard drug used is Aspirin and test Compounds were give at a dose of 100 mg/kg (bw). © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
