Abstract

The study of the rectangular microstrip patch antenna characteristics is presented here. For the 2.45 GHz frequency, the patch antenna design dimensions are optimized for the value 58 × 41.36 mm and simulated in IE3D software for different thickness, dielectric constant, feed and a slit made on it. Simulation results of all the proposed patches show the S-parameter value of S<inf>11</inf> <-10 dB and voltage standing wave ratio, VSWR < 2. The resonant bandwidth of frequency is tabulated with the return loss. The slit patch gives multiband characteristics. All this study gives an idea of microstrip patch antenna characteristics. This type of antenna is useful in wireless communication applications, such as WLAN, Bluetooth. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l.-All rights reserved. © 2022 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
