Abstract

Betaine protects against isoprenaline-induced myocardial infarction in Wistar rats by maintaining membrane-bound ATPases, sulfhydryl groups, lipid peroxidation, and mineral status (Na, K, Ca) at near normal. Oral administration (250 mg/kg/day, 30 days) significantly reduced isoprenaline-induced abnormalities. © 2009 Humana Press Inc. © 2010 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
