Abstract

Three cases of wound infections by Arcanobacterium pyogenes reported. Differentiation from A. haemolyticum achieved via negative reverse CAMP test, acid from xylose, gelatin hydrolysis, and positive β-glucuronidase. Isolates susceptible to penicillin, ampicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, ceftriaxone, gentamicin; variable to tetracycline/erythromycin; resistant to cotrimoxazole. Diagnostic evaluation emphasized. © 2010 SGM. © 2010 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
