Abstract

Cadmium hydroxide (Cd(OH)2) nanowires synthesized via microwave-assisted chemical route. SEM, TEM, XRD, FT-IR, TG-DSC confirmed morphology: length 0.3–several microns, diameter 5–30 nm, pure hexagonal phase. UV-Vis studies revealed optical properties affected by 1D confinement. Potential use in gas sensors. © 2010 American Scientific Publishers. © 2011 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
