Anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of ethanol and aqueous extracts of prop roots of Pandanus fascicularis were evaluated in rats and mice. Ethanol extract inhibited edema by 37.03% and aqueous extract by 63.22% after 3 h. Analgesic effects were confirmed via writhing and tail clip methods. Active compound identified as Hepta deca-5-ene-1-ol. Results support traditional medicinal use for inflammation and pain. © 2011 Hainan Medical College. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
