Abstract

Airflow characteristics inside rooms with insect-proof screens were investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Porous media simulations matched experimental pressure drop data within 8.77% error for air velocity of 0.15 m/s. Insect-proof screens reduce airflow and raise indoor temperature by 3°C. Comfort zones were identified based on PMV contours. © Tsinghua University Press and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011. © 2011 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
