Abstract

This study measured palatal mucosa thickness in 40 healthy Indian subjects using direct clinical method. Mean thickness was 2.48 ± 0.03 mm, younger subjects had thinner mucosa, and females were thinner than males (not statistically significant). The palatal region from distal canine to first molar provides sufficient donor tissue for grafting. Body weight and genetics may further influence soft tissue dimensions. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
