Abstract

Carbon-carbon composite materials are excellent for aerospace applications due to low density. However, machining is difficult and expensive. This study investigates drilling ovality using HSS and TiN-coated carbide tools. Parameters studied: point angle, spindle speed, feed rate. Taguchi orthogonal array and ANOVA were used. Results compare performance of both tools and provide machining recommendations. © 2014 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
