Abstract

Background: Dental trauma is a major oral health concern in childhood. Aim: To assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding dental trauma and its emergency management. Methods: A questionnaire with 33 items was administered to 150 mothers. Results: Previous experience with trauma influenced decisions regarding avulsed teeth. Education level was significantly associated with knowledge variables. Conclusion: Mothers lack awareness in managing dental trauma, highlighting the need for improved communication between dentists and parents. © 2014 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
