Abstract

Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by lack of pain sensation, inability to sweat, recurrent hyperpyrexia, and self-mutilating behavior. A 5-year-old boy presented with recurrent ulcers, loss of teeth, and self-mutilation. Clinical and histological features confirmed diagnosis. Appropriate wound care and antibiotic treatment were provided, and parents were counseled on care management. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
