Abstract

Mosquito sterol acquisition studied; mosquitoes cannot synthesize sterols and rely on plants for phytosterols, converted to cholesterol via SCP2. Computational screening identified Alpha-mangostin and Panthenol as effective SCP2 inhibitors for Aedes aegypti. Novel approach for mosquito control. © 2011 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
