Abstract
This study presents a condition monitoring approach for Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) overhead power cables. Thermal ratings of cables were simulated under environmental effects, and temperature behavior was observed using MATLAB Simulink. The study highlights how temperature and surface emissivity influence powerline condition, demonstrating that condition monitoring is promising for safe and efficient cable operation. © 2012 IEEE. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
