Abstract

Wireless solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station with IoT integration for real-time monitoring of charging operation. Arduino microcontroller interfaced to the ESP8266 wireless module with IR sensors and voltage sensors enables highly efficient vehicle detection and charging status and power management according to solar availability. An additional improvement of this design is allowing a user to continue charging from where the user left off at another station after payment was successfully completed. The users will not be charged anything more than what they consumed, ensuring transparency and reduced expenses for the user. Encouraging utilization of maximum solar power to provide greener alternatives to the conventional plug-in charging method is a great contribution by this technology towards green EV infrastructures. Future developments could include interfaces with augmented reality and high-end communication protocols. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
