The integration of grid-connected renewable energy sources is gaining traction as a means to address the rising electricity demand while simultaneously decreasing dependence on fossil fuels. Wind turbines frequently utilize Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) due to their capacity to sustain consistent output voltages irrespective of wind velocity. The integration of DFIGs with power electronic converters and efficient control strategies can enhance the dynamic performance of the network. Various control algorithms and structural designs can be employed for the management of power converters; however, conventional controllers may encounter difficulties when faced with swift fluctuations in wind speed. A novel control method utilizing ANN-LSTM controllers is implemented in this paper to tackle the aforementioned problem in grid connected DFIG systems. The efficiency of this control system is evaluated across different scenarios including voltage, frequency, wind velocity, and reactive power demand. Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation with OPAL-RT modules is carried out to guarantee precise outcomes. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
