Abstract

We employ Truncated Painlevé Approach (TPA) to the (2+1) dimensional AKNS equation and construct closed-form solutions in terms of lower dimensional arbitrary functions of space and time. Our work generates dromions undergoing inelastic and elastic collisions. Conventional dromions exchange both energy and phase while dromion pairs undergo elastic collisions. We observe that the dynamic behavior can be turned ON or OFF by selectively choosing arbitrary functions and initial conditions. Like UAVs, dromion pairs can be driven anywhere in the plane. Additionally, we generate rogue waves and lumps. Rogue waves are unstable and stationary, while lumps do not interact during propagation. © 2018 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
