We tried to assess the level of knowledge in Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013 among the first and second year MBBS students, with regards to acid attack. A questionnaire based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 274 randomly selected students of first year MBBS (100) and second year MBBS (174) in Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital in Puducherry City of India. The questionnaire comprised of 10 items out of which 7 are of fixed-response type (yes/no) and remaining 3 of multiple choice question. There was a disparity between the levels of knowledge with regards to acid attack among students. The study provides valuable insight into how much knowledge students have regarding the acid attack. We recommend doctors should be thought in a proper way on this important issue, so it would be helpful for them in handling such cases in future. We recommend that the medical students should be kept abreast of the criminal laws in connection with medical practice. © 2019 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
