Abstract

Composites are the potential alternatives of metal structures with enhanced properties that benefit the engineering society. The usage of composites is increased tremendously. The composite property can be increased further by adding materials of required properties which is termed as hybrid composites. The combined mechanical characteristics of glass fibre and fillers in a hybrid composite are exceptional. In this research, the changes in the properties of hybrid composite made of glass fibre with fillers as almond shell powder is carried out. Almond shell exhibits great tensile properties which add additional strength to the glass fibre if it is dispersed in the composite in powder form. To do this, almond shell powder and a more powerful vinyl ester are mixed evenly, and the resin mixture is used to cure the glass fibre created by hand. Detailed mechanical property study of hybrid composites with and without filler material is carried out to analyse the hardness, and tensile, flexural, and impact properties will be studied. The SEM analysis reveals the morphology of how the almond shell particles were dispersed throughout the composite. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
