Indian automobile industry is 5th largest in the world and expected to be 3rd by 2030. Export of passenger vehicles have grown by 20.37 per cent in the month of November 2019, according to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM). This also creates a complexity in some of the Indian OEMs to achieve best in class Time to Market. The scope of this paper is to study the influence of component standardization in Product Development Process (PDP) for a faster to Time to Market for automotive Industries in India & to identify the challenges faced in Design & Development phase. Through this study the idea is to identify the current state & process, Use of Lean techniques in PDP mainly standardization, Benefits & Challenges of Standardization Techniques. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
