Abstract

This study developed a bilayer coating of poly-orthophenylenediamine (PoPD) on strontium hydroxyapatite (Sr-HaP) deposited on low nickel stainless steel (LNSS) for orthopedic implants. FTIR and HR-SEM confirmed coating integrity. Electrochemical tests demonstrated corrosion protection, with the PoPD layer acting as a shield and the porous Sr-HaP providing potential bioactivity. The PoPD/Sr-HaP bilayer coating shows promise for enhancing the biocompatibility and corrosion resistance of stainless steel implants.
