Abstract

This paper deals with the applied math analysis of the uniaxial compressive strength and of the modulus of a rock masses below totally different confining pressures. Properties of the rock masses with totally different joint material, with and without gouge are thought of within the analysis. An oversized quantity of experimental data of articulated rock masses from the literature has been compiled and are used for this statistical analysis. The uniaxial compressive strength of a rock mass has been diagrammatic during a non-dimensional kind because the ratio of the compressive strength of the rock to the intact rock. Within the case of the modulus, the ratio of modulus of a rock thereto of intact rock at totally different confining pressures is employed within the analysis. The result of the joints within the rock mass are taken into consideration by a joint issue. The joint issue is outlined as perform of joint frequency, joint orientation, and joint strength. Many empirical relationships between the strengths and deformation properties of articulated rock and also the joint issue are came across via statistical analysis of the experimental knowledge. A comparative study of those relationships is bestowed. The strategy given during this paper acknowledges that the rock mass can act both as associate elastic material, and a discontinuous mass. The outcomes acquired by the model with proportionate properties of the stone mass foresee genuinely well the conduct of rock mass. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
