Abstract

This study assessed chewing and swallowing in 10 mandibulectomy patients without bony reconstruction, one year post-surgery. Swallowing evaluation using Robbin's penetration aspiration scale showed normal scores, while chewing assessed by FOIS revealed reduced efficiency in H defect patients. Findings indicate mandibular surgical defects without reconstruction mainly affect chewing efficiency but have minimal impact on swallowing, influencing quality of life.
