Abstract

This data article investigates the quality of groundwater in the Kalingarayan Canal, Tamil Nadu, by analyzing pollution levels. Nine groundwater samples (GW1–GW9) were collected monthly from nine stations between January 2014 and December 2016. Parameters analyzed included pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, chlorides, total hardness, nitrates, sulphates, sodium, calcium, and magnesium. Water Quality Index (WQI) analysis indicated low-quality groundwater at Kolathupalayam (GW3) and Perumparai (GW6), primarily contaminated with nitrates. Calcium and magnesium concentrations were high at certain stations, indicating that most groundwater cannot be used for industrial or human consumption without treatment. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
