Abstract

Due to increasing fossil fuel demand, biodiesel plays a significant role. Biodiesels vary in oxidation stability and cold filter plugging point. This study proposes a novel method using mixed biofuels of candlenut and soapnut to enhance exhaust quality. Soapnut oil has good oxidation stability, whereas candlenut oil has low stability but higher CFPP. The engine was tested with 35% candlenut biofuel and 65% soapnut biofuel blended in B20 and B40. Brake thermal efficiency (BTE), specific fuel consumption (SFC), and exhaust contents (NOx, CO, HC, smoke density) were studied. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
