The world is facing rising fossil fuel prices and resource shortages. This analysis examines the use of non-edible oils via transesterification and dual biodiesel blends compared with diesel fuel characteristics. Soapnut oil (non-edible) has good oxidation stability, while candlenut oil has poor stability. Blends of candlenut and soapnut oils were prepared in different proportions and tested in a VCR engine. Exhaust emissions for CO, CO2, hydrocarbons, NOx, and smoke density were analyzed. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
