Abstract

This cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among 160 patients with depressive disorders in Puducherry. Using HAM-D and NCEP ATP-III criteria, 27.5% were found to have metabolic syndrome. Factors associated included older age, female gender, single status, higher socioeconomic class, urban residence, obesity, and psychotropic medication use. The study underscores the importance of integrated care approaches combining mental and metabolic health interventions for depressive patients.
