Abstract

This study investigates combustion, efficiency, and emissions of a single-cylinder DI diesel engine fueled with 20% Pongamia biodiesel blend under different EGR rates (10%, 20%, 30%) and loadings. Cylinder pressure and heat release rate (HRR) were measured. Results show that 20% biodiesel with 20% EGR reduces brake thermal efficiency, increases specific fuel consumption, and lowers NOx emissions, while slightly increasing CO, HC, and smoke. Cylinder pressure and HRR decreased with higher EGR levels. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
