Abstract

Palmyra Palm Leaf Stalk Fiber (PPLSF) reinforced polymer composites were evaluated for mechanical, acoustic, and moisture absorption properties. Alkali and silane treatments were applied to fibers. Silane-treated composites exhibited superior tensile, flexural, impact, and acoustic properties, and lower moisture absorption, especially after exposure to drinking, well, and sea water. Crystallinity changes were assessed by XRD, and SEM analysis revealed failure mechanisms. © 2022 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
