Abstract

The behaviour of doubly built-up cold-formed steel beams under flexure was investigated. Two channel sections were welded back-to-back, with and without lips, 1.6–2 mm thick, and depths 200–240 mm. Experimental, analytical, and FEM modeling results were compared. Beams failed due to local buckling and lateral-torsional buckling. Results show doubly symmetric built-up cold-formed sections provide higher load-carrying capacity with simpler buckling behavior. © 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
