Abstract

Two novel low molecular weight (LMW) compounds (C1: 254.1141 Da, C2: 234.1658 Da) from Lactiplantibacillus plantarum SJ33 were isolated and evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus biofilms, including MRSA. Compounds demonstrated bactericidal action, reduced biofilm formation, and down-regulated icaC and icaD genes involved in intercellular adhesion. Structural identification was confirmed by RP-HPLC, spectroscopy, and ESI–MS. These LMW compounds show promising anti-biofilm activity. © 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
