Abstract

Cadmium-loaded CaCO3/PMMA nanocomposites were prepared from dolomite using a biomimetic method. XRD analysis showed crystalline rhombohedral structures (30–40 nm). CPCD6 nanoparticles exhibited red-shifted absorption and emission, and a blue-shifted band gap (2.8 eV). HR-TEM showed aggregated spherical structures. TG-DTA revealed thermal stability up to 830°C. Photocatalytic testing under UV-visible light showed high degradation efficiency for methylene blue (93%) and methyl orange (89%), with scavengers (AA, AgNO3, EDTA 2Na, IPA) confirming effectiveness. CPCD6 nanocomposites show strong potential for removing organic dyes from aqueous media.
