This article proposes that a charging station for electric vehicles (EV) should have three grid sources and battery energy storage (BES). It operates in both stand-alone and grid-connected modes. An AC/DC converter provides power to the EV charging station via DC/DC converters with continuous and consistent energy. BES stores additional energy under low-demand conditions. The converter is controlled using a grey wolf optimizer (GWO) based methodology. Losses from high-frequency switching of the VSI are reduced, and MATLAB/Simulink simulations validate the system. © 2022 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
