Abstract

This study investigated BRCA-1 mutation in benign breast disease (BBD) and breast cancer (CAB) patients. BRCA-1 mutation altered mRNA expression of tumor markers and inflammatory cytokines, with downregulation of P53 and Caspase-3 and upregulation of NF-κβ, BCL-2, COX-2, IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6 in BRCA-1 positive patients. Results suggest BRCA-1 mutation contributes to tumor progression and pathogenesis in breast disease.
