Abstract

This study evaluated the changes in serum magnesium and zinc levels pre- and post-haemodialysis. Serum magnesium and zinc levels were measured before and after each session. Statistical analyses assessed the impact of haemodialysis on these elements. Haemodialysis significantly reduced serum magnesium levels from 2.52±0.78 mg/dL to 1.63±0.28 mg/dL (p<0.05). Zinc levels showed minimal change (334.5±43.5 µg/dL to 331.5±29.01 µg/dL, p>0.05). The study highlighted the need for routine monitoring and individualized management of magnesium and zinc in haemodialysis patients to optimize cardiovascular outcomes and minimize complications. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
