Abstract

Objective: To compare failure rates between orthodontic brackets bonded with light-cured primer and without primer. A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized and prospective non-randomized trials (four studies, 199 patients) revealed significantly higher bracket failure rates when bonded without primer (odds ratio = 1.50, p = 0.010). Conclusion: Although results show primer reduces bracket failure, the findings should be interpreted cautiously due to limited sample size and confounding variables. More research is required (PROSPERO CRD42024593134).
