The chapter focuses on artificial intelligence in its integration into modern systems of aquaponics and on its modernizing potential in contemporary agriculture. AI-driven solutions enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and productivity of aquaponics through optimization of water quality, nutrient cycling, and fish-plant interactions. This chapter will look into the applications of AI in machine learning algorithms for predictive analytics, automated monitoring systems for real-time data collection, and decision support systems in dynamic resource management. It also involves scaling the operations of aquaponics through the role AI can play in increasing crop yield while reducing the impact on the environment. Case studies have been done showing successful implementations of AI-enhanced aquaponics, showing system resilience and efficiency in resource use. Finally, the chapter concludes with the indication of future directions for AI in aquaponics as a pathway toward more sustainable and intelligent agricultural practices with environmental sustainability goals. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
