Algae are solitary or multilayer photosynthetically living that life in a humid environment on dry soil or floating in different types of water, including such groundwater, freshwater, sewage, and in the form of heat and light or bright sun. In the present investigation, Algae-Biodiesel, a type of microalgae has been considered as a potential alternative fuel in compression ignition engines. The main objective of this paper is to find a suitable fuel blend to improve efficiency and control emission characteristics by using the algae biodiesel along With Out Turbo Charger (WOTC) With Turbo Charger (WTC) setup and Di-Methyl Ether (DME) as additives as tested with the mixing of pure diesel. The investigation is performed at pure diesel and algae biodiesel at 20% blend (AlgaeB20) - WOTC & WTC and its established with variable percentage of Di-Methyl Ether are used for controlling the NOx emission (i.e. Algae B20-10% DME and, Algae B20-20% DME). The investigation's observed with turbo charger setup the emission such as CO and HC are decreased 9% to 15% but the NOx emission is increased 20%. While adding the additive DME the CO and HC emission is increased by 12% however the NOx emission is controlled 18% to 25%. So, the NOx emissions can be effectively reduced by using 20% algae blend along with 15% DME as an oxygenated additive without affecting the performance of the diesel engine. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
