Abstract

The eco-friendly nature and sustainability of natural fibers have gained the attention of researchers and academicians towards the development of natural fiber fortified composites. The present research is about moisture absorption behaviour of surface modified coconut inflorescence fiber composites. The extricated fibers are subjected to acetone, alkali and benzoyl treatment. The composites were manufactured for a fiber volume fraction of 25/75 wt%. The manufactured composite specimens were taken for moisture absorption test. The immersion time for the untreated and surface treated composites was varied by 0,2,4,6,8,10 hrs. The specimen weight was measured before and after immersion. The extensive experimentation revealed benzoyl treated coconut inflorescence fiber fortified composites exhibited better moisture resistance properties compared to other composites. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
