Abstract

Objectives: Children with SeLECTS exhibit difficulty processing spoken messages. Temporal envelope and fine structure processing are key to normal listening. Limited literature exists on these aspects in SeLECTS. We evaluated temporal envelope processing using TMTF and fine structure using the TFS LF test among 35 SeLECTS children and 50 typically developing children. Significant differences were observed in modulation detection thresholds for all frequencies except 4 Hz. Thresholds for 250, 500, and 750 Hz were higher (poorer) for SeLECTS. Conclusion: Children with SeLECTS have poor temporal envelope and fine structure processing abilities. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
