Abstract

Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have emerged as promising therapeutic carriers. In this study, nano-selenium conjugated with Morin (Ba-SeNp-Mo), produced from Bacillus endophyticus, was tested against various bacterial and fungal pathogens and showed strong antimicrobial activity. Antioxidant activity was confirmed through DPPH, ABTS, H2O2, superoxide, and nitric oxide assays. DNA cleavage, thrombolytic activity, and antiproliferative activity in COLON-26 cell lines were also demonstrated. The nanoparticles increased ROS levels and triggered apoptosis with significant caspase-3 activation. The findings suggest strong pharmacological potential for Ba-SeNp-Mo. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
