Oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in the testes caused by high-fat diets (HFD) are a cause of male infertility. This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of hydroxycitric acid and capsaicin (HCC) against male reproductive disorders in HFD-induced obese rats. HCC treatment improved sperm quality, testosterone, FSH, LH levels, and activities of steroidogenic enzymes. HCC decreased lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide levels while increasing antioxidant enzyme expression, reducing oxidative stress. HCC also reduced inflammation and apoptosis markers. The study suggests HCC alleviates obesity-induced male reproductive dysfunction by attenuating oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in testes. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
