Abstract

Silicon nitride (Si3N4), aluminium oxide (Al2O3), and zinc oxide (ZnO2) reinforcement particles were combined with AA 2218 alloy matrix material. Stir casting was used to create AA 2218 composites in the following 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 weight percent. The AA 2218 composites were tested for a number of mechanical properties, including micro-hardness, TS and compressive strength. Reinforcement percentages were raised to improve mechanical qualities. AA 2218 composites were submitted to a number of wear tests, including abrasive and erosion wearing tests, to measure the wear resistance of composites. Wear testing was used to account for the mass loss. An ANOVA was utilised to study the influence of different weight percent of aluminum alloy 2218 composites on abrasive and erosion wear test outcomes, as well as to determine which input and output process parameters had the greatest impact on wear resistance. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
