Abstract

An investigation was conducted to determine the inhibitory tendency of a bromo substituted furan ring connected with phenolic Schiff base on a mild steel substrate (IS2062) covered with an aluminum alloy (AA6351) with a friction surface in various 0.1 N acid mediums. For the study, we utilized three samples with friction surfaces and three acids, including acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid. The coated samples are used as such for the weight loss method in absence and presence of the prepared Schiff base. The Schiff base exposed moderate inhibition against the selected hydrochloric, acetic, and sulfuric acid corrosive mediums. Then, impedance spectra recorded in 0.1 N sulfuric acid medium for one sample. The compound showed moderate inhibition tendency for steel side.
