The AI Industry 4.0 is relevant to improving the productivity, quality, and efficiency of long-term sustainable smart production. It is crucial to identify the primary motivators, obstacles, and dangers in the industry 4.0 implementation plan in order to preserve material flow stability and the sustainability of the supply chain. The impact of quality control, risk assessment, and change management now becomes apparent because the transition process entails many risks, interruptions, unanticipated events, and changes. This review paper outlines the future research scope, sustainability in through-life smart manufacturing, and main obstacles and opportunities for applying technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It includes cutting-edge technology designed to advance the circular economy, maximize resource efficiency, boost energy efficiency, regulate air pollutants, efficiently handle waste, and advance sustainable goods, services, and behaviors. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
