The materials industry is researching new and better materials for engineering applications, such as composite materials. Composites, particularly laminated composites, have a high strength to weight ratio compared to conventional materials. Fiber reinforced polymer composites, including those made with synthetic fibers like glass and carbon, have advantages such as ease of fabrication, low cost, and superior strength. However, their applications may be limited due to high production costs. This study focuses on characterizing and testing Basalt/Polypropylene mesh epoxy composites with different stacking sequences to analyze their impact on mechanical properties. The objective is to evaluate the ballistic impact response and energy absorbed by the different stacking sequences of pure and hybrid composites. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
