Abstract

Memantine-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (MNPs) were formulated via ionic gelation and incorporated into buccal films (MNBF6) to enhance permeability and bioavailability. Optimized nanoparticles showed high entrapment efficiency (84.73%) and non-Fickian drug release. Buccal films demonstrated superior mucoadhesion, mechanical strength, and sustained drug release, suggesting a viable alternative delivery system for Alzheimer's disease management.
